Neuropsychology Assessment
Process
1
Clinical Interview
The patient and caregiver will participate in a 45 to 90 minute telehealth interview.
The provider will review details of current cognitive concerns, physical symptoms, medical history, and psychosocial information to gain a wholistic overview of the patient’s background and care needs.
2
Cognitive and Psychological Evaluation
The patient and provider will engage in a one-on-one evaluation, including assessment of attention, processing speed, language, learning, memory, visuospatial skills, neurobehavioral symptoms, and psychological symptoms.
Assessments typically run 2.5 to 4 hours in length depending on the concerns presented. During testing, the patient should be in a quiet, private environment to ensure best effort and results.
3
Feedback and Report
The patient will be provided with a 30 to 60 minute feedback session reviewing their performance across tests, areas of strengths and weaknesses, clinical impressions, diagnostic and prognostic findings, and individualized treatment recommendations.
A neuropsychological report including all information in the clinical interview, testing, and feedback will also be sent to the referring provider and be available in the patient portal approximately 2-3 weeks after the assessment.

FAQ
How can I prepare for my appointment? Complete intake paperwork and upload any relevant medical records (including prior assessments) to the patient portal in advance. Check to make sure you have a private location, reliable internet connection, video/audio equipment are in working order, and you have the link for the appointment. If you do not have a link by the day of the appointment, please email us at admin@luminaneuropsyc.com. Have any vision or hearing correction (e.g. contacts, glasses, hearing aids) available for the appointment. Be sure to have enough time set aside for the appointment, try to get a good night sleep, take all typical medications, and be sure come fed and well-hydrated.
What are the benefits of a neuropsychological assessment? A neuropsychological assessment can assist in determining strengths and weaknesses in your thinking skills, clarify cognitive diagnoses or prognoses, establish a baseline to evaluate change in cognition over time, assist with creating a personalized treatment plan, and provide recommendations for strategies to improve cognition.
What happens during a consultation? Navigating the medical system to implement recommendations from a neuropsychologist or other provider related to a cognitive diagnosis can be intimidating. If you have questions about you or loved one’s diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment recommendations, a consultation may be useful for providing a path forward. Lumina provides consultations for patients, caregivers, family members, and providers to offer clarification and individual resources for concrete next steps in the treatment process.
How does billing and payment work? Lumina Neuropsychological Services is a private pay assessment and therapy provider and is not in-network for insurance companies. This prevents insurance from imposing limitations on the services that can be provided to patients and ensures that the appointment can be tailored to the patient’s needs. Payment will be due prior to the start of the appointment via the patient portal. If you wish to submit to your health insurance for direct reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits, we are happy to provide a Superbill. Please contact your insurance provider to help determine your benefits in advance of your visit. A Good Faith Estimate of service costs is provided in the service costs section below. A Good Faith Estimate is an estimate of how much your care will cost. This estimate does not include any costs incurred due to special circumstances or emergencies, for which you may ask your provider for an updated estimate that includes an estimation of additional expenses. You may contact admin@luminaneuropsyc.com for an updated Good Faith Estimate of pricing for complex or special circumstances.
How much do services cost? Good Faith Estimates are provided below. Assessment: $2,500 per comprehensive assessment Including chart review, clinical interview, neurobehavioral assessment, cognitive and psychological evaluation, scoring, test interpretation, report writing, and feedback Therapy: $200 per hour Typical evidence-based therapies are 8-16 sessions, depending on the presenting concern. Consultation: $100 per hour
What if I need to reschedule/cancel or miss an appointment? To reschedule or cancel an appointment, go to the schedule on the patient portal to make adjustments at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. A late fee of $50 is assessed 30 minutes after the appointment or in the event of a no-show or cancellation made with less than 48 hours notice. If you are having trouble with the portal, please contact admin@luminaneuropsyc.com regarding scheduling questions.
